SSC Strengthens Records and Information Management Through Seminar-Workshop

With the aim of sharing a common goal to strengthen the institution’s information and records management systems in this age of digital transformation, the Records Management Unit under the General Administrative and Support Services spearheaded a seminar-workshop on Basic Records and Archives Management (BRAM), Salient Features of Information Management and Database Management Systems (DBMS) held at SSC Convention Center on October 23-24, 2025.
The two-day workshop seminar gathered dedicated participants from different offices and colleges of SSC who were designated as records custodians, giving them better understanding records and archives management while introducing digital tools that support the College’s move from traditional recordkeeping to a hybrid system. It also reflected the College’s ongoing effort to follow the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, especially Clause 7.5 on Documented Information.







The Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF), Dr. Josel B. Mansueto, emphasized in her words of gratitude, the importance of embracing innovation and digital technologies to streamline operations and reduce manual processes while noting that it marks the first of its kind in the history of Siquijor State College under the leadership of Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo and initiated by Records Officer III, Mr. Kyle B. Samson.
“To all the participants, who heed the challenge. May you take this opportunity to learn, engage, and collaborate. Let us use the knowledge we gained here to enhance our systems and uphold the integrity of the institutional records for future generations. Please unleash your talents and show your cooperation because this is for the good and betterment of Siquijor State College.” the ever-dynamic SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo shared during his welcome address. He also expressed his full support for the College’s ongoing digital transformation efforts and acknowledged Mr. Samson’s innovative undertaking and hard work to make this event happened.






The two-day seminar- workshop highlighted the new digital tools and automated systems developed by the Records Management Unit under Mr. Samson’s leadership to improve document management and tracking at the College. Through hands-on sessions, participants learned how these innovations enhance efficiency, transparency, and support the College’s shift to hybrid documentation processes.
The event ended highlighting the support of Siquijor State College commitment to uphold quality management standards, ensure effective information flow across offices and promote a culture of transparency and data driven governance.
