SSC Strengthens Global Research Presence Through Dr. Caspiz’s IHERF 2025 Participation
As part of Siquijor State College’s growing presence in research and innovation, SSC was proudly represented by Dr. Mark Harley P. Caspiz, Instructor/Supervisor for Student-Teaching, showcased the research paper “The Learning Styles and Academic Performance of Junior High School Students in Araling Panlipunan” during the 8th International Higher Education Research Forum 2025. He was joined by his thesis advisee, Mrs. Jessel May M. Duhaylongsod, Teacher III and a graduate of Master of Arts in Educational Management in Siquijor State College. She contributed to the study’s development and presentation. The forum took place on November 26–28, 2025, and brought together educators, scholars, and innovators from different institutions.



The three-day event was organized by the Philippine Higher Education Research Consortium, held in partnership with Rizal Technological University and the Technological University of the Philippines. The gathering highlighted the theme “Innovative Research and Digital Transformation: Advancing Higher Global Education for Sustainable Development.”
Their research examined how different learning styles affect students’ academic performance in Araling Panlipunan. Dr. Caspiz and Mrs. Duhaylongsod shared key findings that aim to support more effective teaching strategies for junior high school learners. The study emphasized the need to understand student diversity inside the classroom. They also encouraged educators to design lessons that match learners’ strengths and preferences.





Aside from presenting their research, Dr. Caspiz also served as Session Chair for Parallel Session D – Education and Lifelong Learning. He guided the discussion among presenters and ensured that the session flowed smoothly. His role demonstrated leadership and expertise in the field of education. Participants value his insights during the session. His contribution helped create a productive environment for academic exchange as it strengthened networks among researchers in higher education.
The participation of Dr. Caspiz and Mrs. Duhaylongsod reflects the institution’s commitment to academic excellence. Their involvement in the international forum shows the college’s dedication to advancing quality education with the guidance and unending support of SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo.
