SSC Reinforces Extension Impact Assessment through Regional Training Workshop

Siquijor State College (SSC) proudly participated in the Training Workshop on Enhancing Competencies in Impact Assessment: A Core Group Training for Extension Programs among SUCs, LUCs, and Private HEIs, held on August 13–15, 2025 at SUNN Hotel, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
The workshop was organized by the Extension Managers’ Council – Negros Island Region Incorporated, in partnership with Carlos Hilado Memorial State University and endorsed by the PASUC National Vice President for the Visayas, gathered extension leaders and practitioners from across the Negros Island Region. It aimed to strengthen higher education institutions (HEIs) in conducting transparent, inclusive, and collaborative impact assessments of their extension initiatives.
Representing Siquijor State College were: Dr. Philna S. Palongpalong, Extension Director; Mrs. Peachy T. Baquilta, Assistant Extension Director; Dr. Dawn Iris C. Senit, Research Director; and Dr. Ruji P. Medina, SPEAR Director.

Through the expertise of resource speakers Dr. Ricky P. Becodo of West Visayas State University and Dr. Heinz B. Gumaquil of Iloilo Science and Technology University, the SSC delegates deepened their competencies in evaluation protocols, ethics in assessment, gender sensitivity, and crafting outcome-based reports that reflect meaningful contributions to community development.
SSC’s active participation underscores its commitment to building a culture of accountability and excellence in extension services. By enhancing its capacity in impact assessment, the College ensures that its programs not only reach communities but also bring about sustainable and measurable change.
