SSC President Joins CHED Leaders in Marking ACHIEVE Agenda Milestones Last September 15, 2025

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) successfully ended its high-level gathering entitled “Transforming Higher Education, Achieving Together” on September 15, 2025 (Monday) at the Manila Hotel, 1 Rizal Park, Ermita, Manila.

The event convened key leaders from government and the higher education sector to present the progress and unified roadmap of the ACHIEVE Agenda in its first 100 days, under the leadership of CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis. This gathering formed part of the Converge to ACHIEVE: The Higher Education Summit, which served as a platform for collaboration and forward-looking strategies for Philippine higher education.

Chairperson Agrupis was joined by education leaders from across the Philippines. In the photo with Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, President of Siquijor State College (SSC), are CHED Commissioners including Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino, the newly appointed Chairperson of the SSC Board of Trustees (BOT); CHED–Negros Island Region Director Dr. Raul Alvarez Jr.; CHED Regional Director Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, who once served as SSC OIC; and other key officials in higher education.

Representing SSC, Dr. Sumaylo, together with Presidential Management Staff (PMS) Director and Chief of Staff Jay Louie Jarbonido, actively participated in the summit alongside national leaders. Their engagement underscored SSC’s commitment to aligning with the ACHIEVE roadmap and contributing to regional and national development through academic excellence, research, and community engagement.

The ACHIEVE Day highlighted accomplishments within the first 100 days and reaffirmed a shared vision—transforming higher education for the success of present and future generations.
