Siquijor State College took part in the first Consultative Meeting for the formation of the Research Management Council – Negros Island Region (RMC-NIR) held on September 3, 2025, at the Conference Room, 4th Floor, Admin Building, CHMSU Talisay Campus.

The meeting gathered research leaders from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across Negros Island to promote collaboration, align research agendas, and establish partnerships focused on innovation and knowledge sharing. Representing SSC were Dr. Dawn Irish Calibo-Senit, Director of Research, and Mr. Jerome H. Ruiz, Science Research Analyst.

Dr. Renante A. Egcas, University President of SUNN and President of RASUC XVIII, emphasized in his message the importance of institutional cooperation, unified research goals, and the development of innovation ecosystems. A key highlight of the event was the election and oath-taking of the pioneering officers of RMC-XVIII in which Dr. Calibo-Senit was elected as Region XVIII Research Managers Council Secretary. This ensured strong leadership for the newly formed council.

Under the leadership of SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, SSC’s participation demonstrates its firm commitment to regional collaboration and advancing research. Through its involvement, SSC continues to support academic growth and development within the institution and across the Province of Siquijor and the broader Negros Island Region.
