SSC Joins Strategic Capacity-Building Workshop for Global University Rankings in Bacolod City
Siquijor State College (SSC) continues to climb up its academic excellence and global competitiveness through the active participation of its key officials in the Strategic Capacity Building for Global University Ranking: Advancing WURI, THE, and QS Performance, held on July 14–15, 2025, at the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos.
This two-day seminar-workshop brought together presidents and top administrators from selected higher education institutions (HEIs) across Region XVIII, aiming to deepen understanding and enhance institutional readiness for international ranking systems such as WURI (World’s University Ranking for Innovation), Times Higher Education (THE), and QS World University Rankings.
Driven by SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, the SSC delegation showcased its commitment to academic excellence and global positioning. The college was represented by six key representatives: Dr. Mary Ann Temprosa, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Roel D. Taroc, Vice President for Partnerships, Research, Innovation, Monitoring, and Extension (PRIME) ; Dr. Ruji P. Medina, Director of Strategic Planning, Engagement, Accreditation, and Ranking (SPEAR); Dr. Renalyn B. Bantawig, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Director of the Quality Assurance Office ; Mrs. Philna S. Palongpalong, Director of Extension Services; and Ms. Lauderdale Y. Mumar, Guidance Counselor III.
Together, they represented SSC’s vision to not only foster academic growth but to embody the institution’s expanding role on the global stage. The seminar-workshop aimed to disseminate critical information on world ranking accreditation bodies and their evaluation procedures; Provide a platform for HEIs to network with internationalization champions in Regions VI and XVIII; Equip institutional leaders with knowledge of CHED-recognized ranking systems; Strengthen collaboration and unity in achieving shared internationalization goals.
As SSC moves toward its aspiration of university status, its participation in such strategic engagements highlights its dedication to aligning with global standards and embracing a future-ready, internationally competitive educational environment.
