Siquijor State College took part in a two-day national gathering filled with innovation, inspiration, collaboration, and creativity during the FabFest 2025 held at Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U), Cebu City last August 27–28, 2025.

The event was organized by DTI Region 7 Central Visayas and Field Ready. With the theme, “High Five: Bridging Gaps Through Innovation and Collaboration,” this event brings together educators, innovators, students, and industry partners for two days of learning and collaboration.

Representing SSC were Mrs. Peachy T. Baquilta, FabLab Manager; Mr. Masay Degrano, FabLab Technical Manager; and Engr. Peter James Roche, FabLab Personnel.

Day one featured keynote sessions and panel discussions on strengthening the maker movement, integrating entrepreneurship and innovation into education, and building stronger research and development networks across sectors.

On Day two, participants took part in hands-on workshops and demonstrations on digital fabrication, design, and prototyping. A showcase of student projects and community initiatives also highlighted the creativity and potential of local innovators.

Adding highlight to the event was Fabsiklaban 2025, an exciting competition that challenged participants to develop innovative prototype solutions addressing ten (10) critical National Priority Areas identified in the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD).

During the event, it was also formally announced that Siquijor State College will host the upcoming MakersCon 2025 on December 2–5, 2025, marking another milestone in SSC’s commitment to innovation leadership in the Philippines.

Through FabFest 2025, SSC under the administration of the SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo reaffirmed its commitment to advancing innovation, creativity, and collaboration in the region, in line with its mission to empower communities and nurture a culture of making.
