SSC Celebrates Its True Heroes on World Teachers’ Day
Siquijor State College was filled with gratitude and joy as it celebrated the World Teachers’ Day, honoring the people who serve as the true heart of the institution on Monday, October 6, 2025, at SSC Students Center.
The program started with a unity walk within the campus featuring the SSC faculty and staff through the lively beats of SSC Marching Band. The celebration united students, faculty, and staff as they enjoyed heartfelt tributes and performances prepared by the students. The program continued with fun-filled games that sparked laughter and excitement with faculty and staff grouped according to their respective colleges, making the atmosphere even more lively and memorable. The students applauded and happily screamed as they cheered for their mentors.






The faculty from their respective colleges stood proudly on stage as they received heartfelt messages of gratitude from the Student Government Representatives per college. Flowers, cards, balloons, cakes, and other sweet presents were given by the students during the appreciation gift-giving. In response, the faculty showed their gratitude through warm smiles and hugs.




The ever dynamic and supportive SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo gave his appreciation to the SSC-Student Government led by Ms. Vebil Jade Lou Vidad, SSC SG President guided by the SG Adviser, Mr. John Anthony Y. Jimenez, for coming up with this meaningful event which is celebrated in the entire world. Dr. Sumaylo also emphasized the vital role of the people working behind the scenes, alongside the teachers in this academic institution, and invited them to join him on stage to be recognized during this meaningful event.






“I know for sure the real definition of teachers who actually have a license to teach but this is a World Teachers’ Day celebration. It encompasses everyone who has shared something for the success of every student’s life.” – Dr. Sumaylo reiterated.
The program ended with a blast as the SG Officers unveiled a surprise banner that read “Thank you, Ma’am and Sir!” from the College of Teacher Education building facing the stage, accompanied by vibrant confetti and colorful balloons. Afterward, a salo-salo was held at the SSC Covered Court, bringing everyone together for a shared lunch.
The World Teachers’ Day celebration at Siquijor State College honored the teachers and the people working behind the scenes who helped shape student success. Filled with gratitude, joy, and unity, the event reminded everyone that teaching is more than a profession, but it is a true act of service and love. They are the true heroes of the institution.
