SSC Celebrates Business Week 2025 Highlighting Local Ideas to Global Impact
The College of Business Management successfully spearheaded Business Week 2025 on December 4–5, 2025, at the SSC Covered Court. Guided by the theme “Sealing Filipino Innovation: Start Local; Go Global,” the event aimed to strengthen the entrepreneurial skills and global mindset of CBM students. The first day opened with a series of competitions that encouraged creativity and resourcefulness. These included Sales Pitching, Video Advertisement, Food and Beverage, Fruit and Vegetable Carving, Cake Decorating, Flower Arrangement, Table Skirting, and Bartending. The day concluded with students proudly demonstrating their innovative business ideas and service skills.

The second day highlighted the Eco-Gown Competition, which promoted sustainability, artistry, and cultural identity. Participants competed for awards such as Best Indigenous-Inspired Gown, Best Cultural Representation, Most Creative Use of Recycled Materials, and People’s Choice Award. The BIZTalk Session in the afternoon featured two successful CBM alumni local entrepreneurs, Mr. Ronald Remie G. Mahusay Jr. and Mr. Ian Lester V. Dinsay, who inspired students with their stories of starting small and dreaming big. The open forum moderated by Dr. Ricky C. Jumawan allowed students to ask questions and learn directly from the speakers. The day concluded with the Extemporaneous Speaking Competition, the Quiz Bee Competition, and the awarding ceremony for the BSBA and BSHM Skills Competitions, along with the recognition of winners from the other events held in the afternoon.

In line with the celebration, Business Week 2025 also extended its theme of local innovation and global readiness to community outreach activities. The BSBA Department conducted a Financial Literacy Seminar on December 6, 2025, for participants of the Landbank Countryside Development Foundation Project with SSC. The BSHM Department scheduled its service activity with the Sabang Women’s Association in Larena on December 20, 2025. Meanwhile, the BSTM Department organized the “Maagang Handog Pamasko” program on December 11, 2025, to support local beneficiaries. These engagements emphasized CBM’s commitment to social responsibility and community partnership.

Business Week 2025 continued despite multiple schedule adjustments caused by Typhoon Wilma, which recently affected the Visayas region. The flexibility displayed by the organizers showed their dedication to delivering a meaningful celebration. Students appreciated the continuity of activities despite the challenges. The college community recognized that resilience is essential in both education and entrepreneurship. The theme of starting local and aiming global became even more significant in the face of adversity.
Behind the success of Business Week 2025 were the tireless efforts of the CBM faculty and staff led by CBM Dean, Dr. Jonah Lynn A. Jugilon. Their teamwork ensured the smooth flow of the two-day celebration and the extension activities. The unending support of the SSC administration under SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, strengthened the event’s implementation. The CBM Student Government also played a key role in organizing and coordinating activities. The event concluded with pride as CBM reaffirmed its mission to nurture future Filipino innovators ready to compete globally.
