Siquijor State College x Wildlife Conservation Society: Advancing Environmental Stewardship Together

In a meaningful step toward environmental stewardship, Siquijor State College (SSC) officially entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) on June 27, 2025—a bold partnership that advances sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and community engagement through research and extension.

The ceremonial signing was graced by WCS Country Director, Ms. Kristine Kate Lim, whose presence underscored the global significance of local action. Representing SSC were SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo; Director of Extension Services, Ms. Philna Palongpalong; and Director of Research, Dr. Dawn Iris Calibo-Senit—key leaders united by a shared vision for an environmentally responsible and resilient academic institution.

Building on this momentum, a Planning Session was held on July 3, 2025, with SSC’s Extension Chairs and the Research Unit. The session laid the groundwork for collaborative, eco-conscious initiatives rooted in the institution’s Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives (VMGO) and tailored to the environmental and socio-economic realities of local communities.

At Siquijor State College, research and extension go hand in hand—driving innovation, informing practice, and cultivating a future where nature and knowledge thrive together.

Together, SSC and WCS are planting seeds of change—for greener landscapes and wiser generations.
