Leadership in Action: SSC Criminology Turnover Ceremony

The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) of Siquijor State College recently held its Turnover of Command and Acceptance Ceremony—a formal and symbolic event that marks the transition of student leadership within the Bachelor of Science in Criminology program.

The ceremony was graced by IA V Jordan C. Lunesa, Provincial Officer of PDEA Siquijor, as the guest speaker, and Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, SUC President II. Their presence underscored the event’s emphasis on the program’s core values of discipline, accountability, and service—qualities essential to principled and effective law enforcement leadership.

A time-honored tradition, the Turnover of Command signifies the respectful and orderly transfer of responsibilities from outgoing student officers to their newly elected successors. Beyond its ceremonial nature, the event serves as a platform for cultivating leadership, fostering unity, and reinforcing the continuity of the College’s mission: to promote justice, uphold integrity in law enforcement, and strive for excellence in public service.

The ceremony was attended by faculty, staff, and students of the BS Criminology program, and was meaningfully led by Mr. Ryan T. Figer, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education, alongside Dr. Eric Mark O. Opaon, Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services. Their leadership continues to guide CCJE in shaping future law enforcers who are not only skilled and knowledgeable, but also principled and service-oriented.

For students seeking a course that blends leadership, purpose, and action, Criminology at Siquijor State College offers a transformative educational path. It prepares students to become defenders of the law—committed, competent, and driven by a deep sense of service to their communities.

Choose Criminology. Choose Service. Choose SSC.
