SSC Shines at the 36th National Statistics Month Celebration

There’s more fun in Statistics!
Siquijor State College (SSC) proudly joined the celebration of the 36th National Statistics Month held at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas – Bacolod Branch, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Negros Island Region, on October 29, 2025.
The celebration emphasized the importance of collective efforts in promoting data-driven decision-making for sustainable growth and inclusive progress. The event was themed “Accelerating the SDG Pace of Progress: Mobilizing Data for All,” brought together participants from government offices, academic institutions, private organizations, businesses, community groups, and support services, united in promoting the value of data in driving sustainable development. Among them is the participating team from SSC guided by the Faculty Coach, Dr. Mark Harley P. Caspiz.

Siquijor State College showed their talent, creativity, and knowledge in statistics by winning Champion in the Cosplay, StatisTiktok, and Infomercial contests, and placing First Runner-up in the Photography contest. This achievement clearly shows that learning statistics can be both exciting and fun.
The Cosplay Contest was dominated by Jannah Marie Ragas, Glaidyl Kaye Buhisan, Chrysler Blitz Alvarico, and Richard Hamoc, all from BSEd IV, who were hailed as Champions. The StatisTiktok Contest also brought victory to SSC through the creativity of Mary Sis Tamala, Chereylene Niones, Karen Molato, Everlie Ontolan, Catherine May Ligutom, Joyce Solon, and Sweet Avary Balos, who likewise earned the Champion title. In the Infomercial Contest, Shane Alcoseba, Lyn Tuyac, and Jhoanna Ray Maghanoy, all from BSEd IV-English, secured another Champion win. Meanwhile, Harris Grant Documento of BS Crim IV proudly bagged First Runner-Up in the Photography Contest, and John Austen Paredes of BS InfoTech III represented SSC in the Digital Poster Making Contest.

“Despite the limited time given for the students to prepare before the deadline of submission, as the Faculty Coach, I have seen their passion, creativity, and determination that truly shone through. We faced the challenge together, and through teamwork and perseverance, we were able to make it to the regional stage. This is proof that great things happen when we believe in our students’ potential. Let us continue to support, guide, and empower them to reach greater heights and make Siquijor State College proud.” Dr. Caspiz proudly shared.
The success of Siquijor State College shows that statistics can be fun, creative, and full of teamwork. Under the leadership of the SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, together with guidance of the SSC faculty, SSC continues to nurture students’ talents and passion, beyond the classroom. Their achievements prove that learning becomes more meaningful when done with joy and dedication. Truly, there’s more fun in Statistics!
