SSC SPEAR Director at AI Fest 2025:  SSC’s Commitment to Responsible AI and Innovation

What if the future isn’t coming? It’s already here? In today’s fast-paced world of innovation, Artificial Intelligence is unlocking boundless possibilities that transform how we live, work, and play. Siquijor State College embraced this wave of change by joining the first-ever Artificial Intelligence Fest (AIFEST) 2025, a three-day celebration of innovation, ethics, and collaboration in AI, held on August 11–13, 2025 in Iloilo City with the theme “Coding a Better Future: Responsible AI for Cities and Communities.”

The event brought together leaders from government, education, industry, and civil society to explore how AI can be harnessed for smarter, more inclusive, and sustainable development. Dr. Ruji P. Medina, SPEAR Director, represented Siquijor State College,  and served as a judge on this milestone gathering.

Across three days, participants gained fresh insights and knowledge from 12 emerging AI-powered startups showcasing bold, real-world solutions through Lightning Talks, to powerful plenary sessions on Harnessing AI for Business and Industry. Topics ranged from AI-driven IP protection to empowering MSMEs through digital transformation, all highlighting how AI is shaping opportunities for growth and community development.

Siquijor State College’s participation in AI Fest 2025 reflects its firm commitment to its vision of becoming a hub for academic excellence and innovation. The College continues to empower its stakeholders with knowledge and skills that drive sustainable development by embracing emerging technologies and engaging in collaborative platforms.

True to its mission, SSC under the leadership of the SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, remains dedicated to nurturing a technology-oriented and future-ready community, one that not only adapts to change but also leads in shaping a smarter, more inclusive, and innovative society.
