SSC Joins the LGU Larena and Other Agencies in Celebrating the 127th Independence Day of the Philippines

Siquijor State College (SSC) proudly joined the Local Government Unit of Larena and various national and local agencies in commemorating the 127th Independence Day of the Philippines on June 12, 2025. The celebration, held at the Larena Queengate Center, served as a meaningful tribute to the heroism, unity, and enduring spirit of the Filipino people.

This year’s celebration carried the theme “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”, reminding every Filipino of the hard-earned freedom that shaped the nation and the shared responsibility to uphold its legacy through active citizenship, good governance, and community service.

Representatives from SSC, led by the SUC President II, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo and SSC’s  key officials, faculty, staff, and student leaders, joined the ceremonial flag-raising and program. Their participation underscored the institution’s continued commitment to nation-building and its strong partnership with local government units and civil society in promoting patriotism and civic consciousness.

SSC’s involvement in this national celebration reflects its mission not only to deliver quality education but also to instill in its students a deep sense of national pride, civic responsibility, and social awareness.
